The health benefits of Quality Manuka honey from New Zealand are numerous and well-researched. From promoting wound healing and fighting infections, to aiding digestion and reducing inflammation. Manuka honey has antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. The unique properties of quality Manuka honey can help whether you’re looking to boost your overall wellness or address specific health concerns, discover the powerful potential of High Quality Manuka honey.
No, honey does not expire or go off as long as it is kept in its container with the lid on. Honey from hundreds or even thousands of years ago has been found to still be perfectly fine to eat.
At Ngamia Farms, all of our honeys are single-source and reflect the conditions of the area where the bees are located. Different weather conditions and local plants can affect the nectar available for the bees to collect, making each honey unique. That’s why the same strength of honey can taste a little different from year to year and from batch to batch.
The cost of Manuka honey is high because it is native to New Zealand, and the demand for this high quality honey is greater than the supply. This combined with the extremely short harvest window makes this a valuable and unique product, with its high levels of antibacterial, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. It is these qualities that sets it apart from other honey. Manuka honey is used in foods, skincare and medicine around the world. The antibacterial quality of Manuka increases for a couple of years or more after harvest, the higher the MGO content of the Manuka honey the higher the price per kilo.
Real Manuka honey only comes from New Zealand. Manuka honey has a special antibacterial quality due to the presence of Methylglyoxal (MGO), which is the organic compound responsible for Manuka honey’s strong antibacterial properties. This is not affected by light or heat like the antibacterial hydrogen peroxide in all honeys. The higher the UMF or NPA rating, the more antibacterial properties in the honey. It is made from the nectar bees collect from the flowers of the native manuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium). It’s a combination of the nectar and the way the bees turn it into honey that gives it its uniqueness.
The New Zealand government has set up a system for authenticating all Manuka honey labelled for export. All Ngamaia Farms Manuka honey has been tested by a recognized laboratory to meet the new MPI Manuka honey definition.
Our Manuka honey is a trusted high quality, as all our honey is from a single source (not taken from many different places and blended). Our honey reflects the conditions of that area in which the bees are located. Our honey is harvested in remote and stunning parts of New Zealand, helping keep it pesticide free. The bees in these areas get to drink a perfect quality of water adding to the honey’s high quality. All of our honey is batch tested and verified with Gribbles laboratories backing it’s high quality.
At Ngamaia Farms, all our honey is single-source, (not taken from many different places and blended) each with its own unique benefits and flavors. It’s best to try a few and see which works best for you. Darker honeys tend to have stronger flavors while lighter honeys tend to have more floral flavors. Our personal favourite is the 514+ Mono Floral Manuka, it’s a complex honey with an earthy flavour that has undertones of caramel, along with a subtle bitter aftertaste.
